Leadership
Cassandra Barcelo
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Cassandra founded Empower Us with a vision of creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities to achieve meaningful employment, independence, and community inclusion. With more than 17 years of experience in special education and transition services, Cassandra has dedicated her career to supporting individuals as they move from school to adulthood. She is a former special education teacher, recipient of the Heart of Education Award, and was recognized as the Remarkable Woman of Las Vegas for her commitment to empowering others through innovative and inclusive programs. Under her leadership, Empower Us has expanded services to include Job Development, Paid Work Experiences, PreETS, Social Skills Training, Financial Literacy, Summer Camps, and Community Engagement opportunities.
Jasmin Maldonado
Chief Operating Officer
Jasmin Maldonado has been an integral part of Empower Us for more than seven years and serves as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer. Throughout her time with the company, Jasmin has developed extensive knowledge and expertise in every area of Empower Us operations. She oversees daily operations, program implementation, staff support, service delivery, and quality assurance to ensure participants receive exceptional services and support. Known for her strong leadership, dedication, and problem-solving abilities, Jasmin works closely alongside Cassandra to guide the organization’s growth and success. As Cassandra’s trusted right hand, she plays a vital role in strategic planning, program development, and maintaining the high standards that define Empower Us. Her commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities and supporting families, staff, and community partners has helped make Empower Us a trusted resource throughout Southern Nevada.

Employment Specialist
Our Employment Specialists work one-on-one with participants to identify career goals, develop workplace skills, connect with employers, and achieve successful employment outcomes.
Job Coaches
Our Job Coaches provide individualized support in community and workplace settings, helping participants build confidence, learn new skills, and succeed in real-world environments.
Instructors
Our instructors facilitate workshops and training programs focused on workplace readiness, financial literacy, social skills, self-advocacy, and independent living skills.

Christopher Barcelo
Consultant
Christopher is a trainer that has been working in the restaurant business for over 30 years. He has trained employees in all areas of culinary skills. His charismatic nature has won over many customers and it will win you over too.
Lori Tillman
Job Coach
Lori Tillman is an assistant for a transition special education program for CCSD. She works for us part time and brings valuable knowledge on job coaching. She also has a daughter with down syndrome who she adores. Lori has been submersed in the special education community for over 18 years. Her loving nature puts everyone at ease during their job coaching sessions.
